Projects Airport & Infrastructure Projects > King Khaled International Airport
ESEC was actively engaged in the construction of the King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh, where Arabian Bechtel Company Limited was the Construction Manager as follows:
A. The Central Plant and Utilities Building
(PF-15) was a project that was undertaken by ESEC as a subcontractor of Mitsubishi Industries of Japan and had a total contract value of SR.126,000,000.
The Building was constructed in reinforced concrete, structural steelworks, block walls etc. and has a total floor area of some 9,600 square meters. In addition to the main building, El-Seif was also responsible for the construction of the adjacent cooling towers which were constructed in reinforced concrete and which involved many technical problems in the fabrication and erection of the Formwork all of which were successfully solved by our own Technical Department.
ESEC was also responsible for the construction of the tunnel which carried the services to and from all buildings (i.e. Royal Terminal, Terminal Building, Cargo Building, Catering Facilities, Postal Facilities, etc.). The function of the building is to supply heating and cooling for the whole of the airport complex together with standby power capacity of some 24 megawatts which is provided by 3 No. diesel powered generators. The standby power system is also capable of supplying power to the city of Riyadh should the need arise.
B. Radio repeater station (LM-1)
which included the construction of a control room, 1,500 meter duct bank, 1,500 meters access road and 50 meters high tower and associated foundations and civil works.
The above projects were carried out under the close supervision of Arabian Bechtel Limited and both were completed on schedule and to the complete satisfaction of the Presidency of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Defense and Aviation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
